My Story

A Career Built on Compassion, Education & Purpose

Hello, and welcome! I'm Sharlene Chapman, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Inclusive Living Solutions, LLC, a Sponsored Residential provider agency based in Hampton, Virginia.

My nursing journey began in 2010 when I graduated from Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke, Virginia.

I later earned my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Sentara College in Chesapeake, Virginia, followed by my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University in 2022.

Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of serving in clinical, educational, and leadership roles that continue to shape my professional philosophy.

My Professional Philosophy

Knowledge With Compassion

Nursing has always been more than a career to me. It is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

I believe exceptional care begins with listening, respecting individual choices, understanding personal needs, and supporting people with dignity.

Whether I am caring for a critically ill patient, educating future nurses, supporting someone in a residential home, or leading one of my companies, these values guide my work.

Professional Experience

From the Bedside to the Classroom

My professional journey has allowed me to combine hands-on nursing, leadership, mentorship, and education.

01

Critical Care & Travel Nursing

Critical care nursing will always have a special place in my heart.

My clinical background includes telemetry, step-down, and critical care nursing.

I have completed travel nursing assignments across the country, including California, New York, Florida, and Salem, Virginia.

These experiences strengthened my adaptability, clinical judgment, and ability to work with diverse patient populations.

02

University Nursing Education

I have served as a nursing faculty member in associate degree and bachelor's degree nursing programs.

My teaching experience includes:

  • ECPI University
  • Averett University
  • Walden University

I have also served as a program mentor for prelicensure nursing students at Western Governors University.

03

Clinical Leadership & Education

I served as a Critical Care Educator at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Newport News, Virginia.

In this role, I supported nursing education and professional development in the:

  • Intensive Care Unit
  • Post-Anesthesia Care Unit
  • Emergency Department

These experiences reinforced my belief that quality care begins with knowledgeable, prepared, and compassionate professionals.

Entrepreneurship & Education

Founder & Owner of
Nursing School Ninjas, LLC

In addition to founding Inclusive Living Solutions, I am the proud owner of Nursing School Ninjas, LLC, a healthcare education and professional training company.

Through Nursing School Ninjas, I combine my clinical nursing background, teaching experience, and passion for education to provide practical training for healthcare professionals and direct support staff.

My goal is to help participants build the knowledge, practical skills, and professional confidence needed to carry out their responsibilities.

Nursing School Ninjas, LLC

Healthcare & Professional Training

Through Nursing School Ninjas, I provide education designed to support safe practices, professional competency, and quality care.

Emergency Response

CPR Training

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation training provides essential knowledge and practical skills related to recognizing and responding to cardiac and breathing emergencies.

My approach emphasizes understanding the information, practicing essential skills, and preparing participants to respond appropriately.

Medication Education

32-Hour Medication Administration Course

I provide a structured 32-hour medication administration course designed to prepare eligible participants for medication administration responsibilities.

Training emphasizes medication safety, accurate documentation, appropriate procedures, and professional accountability.

Original Curriculum

Community-Based Behavioral Intervention Training

Community-Based Behavioral Intervention Training, also known as CBBIT, is an original behavioral intervention curriculum that I personally developed.

I obtained approval for this curriculum through the Virginia Office of Human Rights.

This accomplishment reflects my commitment to professional education, individual dignity, and respectful behavioral support practices.

An Accomplishment I'm Proud Of

Developing my own Community-Based Behavioral Intervention Training curriculum and obtaining approval through the Virginia Office of Human Rights is an important professional milestone for me. It represents the combination of my nursing knowledge, educational experience, and direct support background.

My Commitment to Education

Teaching Beyond the Textbook

Whether I am teaching nursing students, providing CPR instruction, educating participants about medication administration, or delivering behavioral intervention training, my philosophy remains the same.

Education should do more than provide information. It should strengthen practical skills, promote accountability, and prepare people to provide safe, compassionate, and respectful support.

Through Nursing School Ninjas and Inclusive Living Solutions, I am committed to helping develop knowledgeable professionals and promoting quality services.

Lead Inclusive Living Solutions while continuing to pursue professional development and future goals in psychiatric mental health nursing.

Why Residential Services Matter to Me

My Commitment to Individuals With Developmental Disabilities

Alongside my nursing career, I have served and continue to serve as both a Direct Support Professional and a Sponsored Residential Host.

These experiences have given me firsthand insight into the responsibilities involved in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a home environment.

I understand that meaningful residential support involves more than meeting daily needs. It requires patience, consistency, communication, respect for individual rights, and genuine relationships.

I believe individuals deserve opportunities to make choices, build independence, participate in their communities, and feel valued in the places they call home.

The Vision Behind Inclusive Living Solutions

More Than a Residential Placement

My background as a nurse, educator, curriculum developer, Direct Support Professional, and Sponsored Residential Host shapes the way I lead Inclusive Living Solutions.

I am passionate about helping Sponsored Residential Hosts understand the importance of person-centered support, individual rights, health and safety, and meaningful relationships.

I want the individuals we support to experience more than a place to live. I want them to experience a genuine sense of home, belonging, and community.

Beyond My Professional Roles

A Little More About Me

Outside of my professional responsibilities, I'm a proud dog mom and a resident of Hampton, Virginia.

Although my professional journey has taken me across the country, critical care nursing has always remained close to my heart.

I am passionate about education, professional development, supporting others, and continuing to challenge myself.

One of my professional aspirations is to become a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with Frontier Nursing University as part of that educational goal.

What Matters Most

Compassion. Education. Accountability. Respect.

I believe knowledge and skill are most meaningful when paired with compassion.

I value lifelong learning, honest communication, strong professional relationships, and opportunities to make a positive difference in people's lives.

Those are the same values I strive to bring to both Inclusive Living Solutions and Nursing School Ninjas.
