Who is eligible to live in a sponsored residential home?
Our sponsored residential services are intended for adults age 18 and older with intellectual or developmental disabilities who are enrolled in Virginia's Community Living Waiver.
Eligibility for a specific home also depends on the individual's support needs, preferences, accessibility requirements, and whether the home can safely provide appropriate care.
Our team works with the individual, guardian or authorized representative when applicable, and support coordinator to determine whether a home is an appropriate fit.

Inclusive Living Solutions provides sponsored residential services across Virginia, primarily in the Hampton Roads and Richmond, Virginia areas.
We are continuing to expand our network of sponsored residential homes, with additional homes coming soon.
Home availability and approval status may change. Please contact our team for current placement information.

How can someone access your services?
Referrals commonly come through a Community Services Board support coordinator.
Individuals, family members, guardians, and other care team members may also contact Inclusive Living Solutions directly to discuss residential services.
After receiving an inquiry or referral, our team reviews the individual's needs, preferences, and service requirements and may arrange a meeting to explore an appropriate residential match.
Placement depends on suitability, availability, required approvals, and the individual's choice.
Are you a licensed and approved Medicaid provider?
Yes. Inclusive Living Solutions, LLC is licensed by the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services and is an approved Medicaid provider.
We provide sponsored residential services through Virginia's Community Living Waiver for eligible individuals.

What if an individual or family has a concern or complaint?
Individuals, families, guardians, and authorized representatives may share concerns directly with our Program Director or company leadership by telephone or email.
We take concerns seriously and work to respond promptly, respectfully, and in accordance with applicable requirements.
Individuals also have the right to contact their Community Services Board, the Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services Office of Human Rights, or other appropriate external authorities.
We are committed to protecting individual rights, dignity, safety, and freedom from retaliation for making a complaint.
Are your homes wheelchair accessible?
Accessibility varies by home. Some homes may have stairs or other physical features that make them unsuitable for certain mobility needs.
We evaluate each individual's accessibility and support requirements when considering a residential placement.
As our residential network expands, we aim to offer additional home options that can accommodate a broader range of needs.
Please contact us to discuss the accessibility features of a particular home.
Becoming a Sponsored Residential Host
Answers to common questions about opening your home, qualifications, compensation, training, and the approval process.
What is a Sponsored Residential Host?
A Sponsored Residential Host welcomes an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability into their own home and provides individualized daily support in a family-like environment.
Hosts assist individuals with safety, daily living, personal care, independence, and community participation according to their approved support plans.
This is a residential hosting opportunity, not a traditional hourly caregiving position.
How much can a Sponsored Residential Host earn?
Potential annual compensation ranges from $78,000 to $144,000 or more per individual supported.
Actual compensation depends on the individual's support needs, the host's qualifications and experience, and agreed rental payments.
A maximum of two individuals receiving sponsored residential services may reside in an approved home.
Qualifying sponsored residential payments may be exempt from federal and Virginia state income taxes under applicable difficulty-of-care payment rules. Tax treatment depends on eligibility and the specific payment arrangement.
What areas are you recruiting Sponsored Residential Hosts in?
We are recruiting prospective hosts throughout Virginia, primarily in the Hampton Roads and Richmond areas, including:
- Virginia Beach
- Chesapeake
- Norfolk
- Hampton
- Newport News
- Williamsburg
- Toano
- Richmond
Homes must meet applicable requirements and complete the approval process before services begin.
What are the minimum qualifications?
Applicants generally must:
- Be at least 21 years old
- Have a high school diploma or equivalent
- Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Be able to complete electronic documentation
- Pass required background and other screenings
- Demonstrate financial stability
- Have a home that can meet required safety and approval standards
- Complete all required training and competency assessments
Homeowners, experienced caregivers, and applicants with single-story homes are preferred.
Can I become a host if I rent my home?
Renters may be considered if their landlord approves the arrangement.
The landlord must initially provide verbal approval and subsequently provide written permission for the individual to reside in the home and for applicable rental payments.
The home must also meet all other required licensing, inspection, and approval standards.
Does my home need a Certificate of Occupancy?
Yes. Homes must meet the applicable Certificate of Occupancy requirements established during our approval process.
Inclusive Living Solutions will attempt to obtain existing certificate information from the locality.
If the necessary documentation is not available, the applicant may need to contact the city or county, arrange an inspection, and pay required fees.
Homes built before 1973 may experience additional difficulty obtaining the required documentation.
What background checks are required?
All household members age 18 and older must complete required background and Central Registry screenings.
Applicants must also complete any additional screening and documentation requirements identified during onboarding.
How much training is required?
Applicants should plan for approximately 40 hours of unpaid onboarding training , including eight hours of in-person training in Hampton, Virginia.
Much of the remaining training is completed virtually through self-paced courses.
Required training may include:
- Medication administration training, including a 32-hour course when required
- CPR and First Aid
- Human Rights and Serious Incident Reporting
- Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services requirements
- Inclusive Living Solutions program-specific training
Some applicants may qualify for exemptions from specific courses based on accepted professional licenses or valid certifications. All required competencies must still be demonstrated.
How long does the approval process take?
The onboarding and approval process typically takes approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
Actual timing depends on training completion, required documentation, background screenings, home preparation, and inspections.
Approval does not guarantee that an individual will immediately move into the home.
Will I be guaranteed an individual once my home is approved?
No. Approval makes a home eligible for consideration, but placement is not guaranteed.
Residential matching considers the individual's needs, preferences, choices, safety, and compatibility with the home and host.
What documentation must a Sponsored Residential Host complete?
Hosts are responsible for maintaining accurate and timely documentation, including daily electronic service documentation using Therap.
Hosts must also maintain required records, report incidents and concerns appropriately, follow approved support plans, and participate in ongoing oversight and competency reviews.

Both forms are mandatory.
