This opportunity allows you to make a meaningful impact in someone’s life while earning a competitive income and receiving ongoing professional support from a licensed provider.

Sponsored Residential providers share their home and provide daily support to an individual receiving services through the Virginia Community Living Waiver.

Important Timing Information

We are hiring now and this posting is for an immediate placement. Providers who already meet requirements may move faster through approval depending on training status and home readiness. Standard onboarding and approval may still take approximately 1 month if requirements are not already completed. The timeline depends on your ability to complete required training and prepare your home for the licensing inspection.

Training Requirement

All providers must complete 24 hours of required synchronized training before placement.

Training:

Is unpaid
Can be scheduled across multiple days that fit your availability
Is conducted in Hampton, Virginia and majority online

Housing Requirements (Important)

Before applying, please confirm the following:

  • Your home can obtain a Certificate of Occupancy from the city. Homes built before 1973 may have difficulty obtaining this certificate.

  • If you rent, your landlord must provide written permission allowing you to sublease a room and receive rent from the individual living with you. Obtain verbal approval from your landlord first. Inclusive Living Solutions will then provide the template required for written permission to rent a room to an individual receiving services.

  • Anyone over 18 years of age living in the host home must be able to pass a background check and Central Registry search.

  • You have access to 90 days worth of living expenses (the average of all of your bills per month x3 months)These items will be verified early in the process. So if your bills cost you $6,000 per month you must have $18,000 readily available and provide proof.

  • We strongly prefer candidates who: Own their home, Have previous experience, hosting or providing care in a residential setting

Who We Support

We support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including individuals with autism, Down syndrome, and cerebral palsy.

Individuals may need support with:

  • Daily routine

  • Personal care

  • Medication administration

  • Community participation

  • Life skills development

  • Safety supervision

Supports are individualized and designed to help each person live as independently and meaningfully as possible.

Responsibilities

Welcome an individual into your home and provide daily support
Assist with life skills, independence, and social relationships
Support participation in household routines and community activities
Complete required documentation electronically
Collaborate with Inclusive Living Solutions staff, nurses, and behavioral professionals
Coordinate with approved backup support providers when needed

Required Training and Certifications

Providers must complete the following prior to placement or provide unexpired certificates for:

  • 32 hour Medication Administration course (unless licensed in Virginia to administer medications)

  • CPR and First Aid certification

  • Human Rights training

  • Serious Incident Reporting training

  • Additional DBHDS and program specific training modules

If you do not have these certificates, they will be provided through internal training with Inclusive Living Solutions. Having these certificates prior to applying will significantly decrease the amount of time spent training.

Minimum Requirements

  • Age 21 or older

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Ability to complete documentation electronically (Inclusive Living Solutions uses Therap Electronic Health Record)

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

  • Successful background checks and Central Registry screenings (for the host and all adults living in the sponsored home)

  • Home must pass environmental and safety inspection

  • Demonstrated financial stability with access to approximately 90 days of personal living expenses

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience supporting individuals with disabilities

  • Medical background

  • Licensed nurses encouraged to apply

  • Single story homes preferred

  • Homes located in Virginia Beach only

  • Homes previously licensed by DBHDS as sponsored residential host homes

Compensation

Earn $6,600 to $7,100 per month for this immediate placement depending on the level of care required and the amount of rent the individual agrees to pay to rent a room in your home.

Maximum of 2 individuals receiving services per home.

  • If you are renting. Has your landlord given you verbal approval to rent a room in your rented home, have a separate lease with the individual, and receive rent payments from them? Written approval is a requirement to complete the hiring process.

  • Do you have, or will you have 90 days (3 months worth of all bills combined) available in the next month and can you provide proof (bank statement, credit card available balance, combination of both, etc. ? (For EXAMPLE if all of your bills per month total $6,000 you are expected to have $18,000 accessible before an individual is placed). Statements older that 30 days not allowed.

  • Can you attend 24 hrs of unpaid training? Training days can be flexible including weekends, mornings, and evenings and can be broken up into 3-4 classes depending on your availability.
